The regional Foster and Adoption Service Units (FASU) shall
provide a timely and informative response to all individuals who call for adoption

| Response Procedures |
The FASU worker shall
- obtain preliminary information to identify the caller's interests and to answer general
questions about adoption
- explain special needs adoption and the Departments need for families who can
parent these children
- send a packet of information to the family.
If the caller indicates a clear choice for adopting a healthy, white child, newborn to
eight (8) years of age, the FASU worker shall send a packet of information which includes
- a general adoption letter
- a list of private in-state adoption agencies which process these types of adoptions.
