The Department shall comply with an individual’s request to obtain PHI via an alternative communication method that shall include American Sign Language and  languages other than English if

·          the individual makes the request in writing, and 

·          specifies the alternative method of contact.

The Department is not expected to provide the alternative communication method if to do so is burdensome to the Department.  

The individual is not expected to provide an explanation for the basis of his or her request.
