ADOPTIONS
Selection of Adoptive Family
| Preparing for Separation | If the foster family decides it will not adopt the child, the adoption specialist shall begin the process of preparing the child for adoption by a non-foster parent as well as preparing the foster family for separation from the child. |
| Preparation of the Adoption Plan | In preparing the adoption plan, the adoption specialists
shall: meet with the treatment worker review the Uniform Case Record meet the child and the caregivers complete the assessment, and write the adoption plan narrative. Then, the adoption specialist shall fill out the Adoption Plan Summary (DCF-336A) which includes the dates for the adoption plan narrative, Checklist For Recruitment Plan (DCF-2038), Child Assessment (DCF-2039), and Adoption Readiness Case Consultation (DCF-2040). The Adoption Plan Summary shall also include factors that will influence the selection of an adoptive family such as: a description of the special needs of the child the child's need to be placed in a family of like racial, cultural and/or language background, and medical, psychological and/or educational, behavioral needs or necessary support services. Note: A copy of form DCF-336A follows policy 48-12-6 of this chapter. |
| Recruitment Plan | The adoption specialists, in consultation with ARE staff,
shall develop a recruitment plan if there are no families registered on the Exchange that
appear to be a possible match for the child. The recruitment plan will describe specialized recruitment efforts to find an adoptive home, including a timetable for implementation of the plan within two (2) weeks of the time the plan is developed. To document the recruitment plan, please complete the Checklist For Recruitment Plan (DCF-2038). |
