Right to a Hearing

Request for Hearing Requests for a hearing shall be submitted in writing to the Department of Children and Families, Hearings, Central Office, Hartford, CT.
Written Notice The written notice of denial, reduction or termination of a subsidy must be done by the Department at least thirty (30) days prior to the effective date of any such action.
No Modification Until the Final Decision Any subsidy granted to an adopting or adoptive parent(s) must continue without modification until publication of a final decision by the Adoption Subsidy Review Board.
When Is There no Hearing CONN. GEN. STAT. §17a-117 and 17a-120, require that the periodic subsidy be terminated on the child's eighteenth (18) birthday and the medical subsidy be terminated on the child's twenty-first (21) birthday.

Note: Any decision affecting a subsidy may be appealed to the Adoption Subsidy Review Board. However, under these conditions, the Board would uphold discontinuance in compliance with State Statute.
