Hearing Process for Subsidies

Request In Writing Adoptive parents aggrieved by the Department's subsidy denial, reduction or termination plan may request in writing a hearing before the Adoption Subsidy Review Board (pre and post-finalization).
Time Limit to Request Hearing Adoptive parents have fifteen (15) days from the date of the Department's mailing a notice of denial, reduction or termination (forms DCF-800, DCF-800A and DCF-800B) to request a hearing. Their letter must be mailed to the Department of Children and Families' Central Office to the attention of the Hearings Unit.
Hearings on Finding of Non-Eligibility Within thirty (30) days of the receipt of a finding of non-eligibility, the parent(s) may submit a written request for a hearing before the Adoption Subsidy Review Board.
Subsidy Continues During Review Period During this review period, and until the final decision by the Adoption Subsidy Review Board, the subsidy, if historically granted, shall continue without modification.

Note: In no case shall eligibility for medical subsidy continue beyond the child's twenty-first (21) birthday.
