The Assistant Attorney General (AAG) has the following
role(s) in Administrative Hearings:
- Consult with appropriate Department staff prior to the hearing.
- Assist the Department staff in the preparation of the case.
- When necessary, assist Department staff in case preparation although an AAG will not be
representing the Department at the hearing.
- Negotiate stipulations and settlements, when appropriate.
- Issue subpoenas to the Departments necessary witnesses.
- In License Hearings and where appropriate, the AAG may be asked to effectuate the
discovery process between the parties; e.g., preparation of witness lists, clients
files, receipt of opposing parties documentary evidence, etc.
- Present the Departments case.
- Examine and cross-examine witnesses.
