Reports Received on an Open Assessment or Ongoing Services Case

Policy Any report which is received on an open assessment or ongoing service case shall be assigned to an investigator.
Definition An open assessment or ongoing service case refers to a family that is receiving services through the Department as the result of a substantiated report of abuse or neglect.
Case Disposition The assigned investigator and supervisor have the responsibility for making the decision to substantiate or not substantiate the allegation(s).

When required, the assessment or ongoing service worker shall be responsible for filing court documents and effecting the placement.

If there are any disagreements among the involved staff, a conference shall be held between the Social Workers and their supervisors. Any unresolved disagreements shall be brought to the attention of a Program Supervisor or Program Director, if necessary, to make a management decision.
